This map shows the ratio of male murder victims for most of the world's countries and thus implicitly also the female victims ratio for the latest year with data available. Blue countries have higher male victim rates and red countries higher female victim rates. Yellow countries are more or less balanced.
The Percentage of male and female homicide victims XLSX-dataset comes from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. One point worth noting is that Iceland had one murder in 2012 and on average 78% male victims between 2006-2012 according to this comment on Reddit.
You can see the data value for an individual geographic unit (e .g. country, state, county) by moving the mouse over it.
You can zoom in by clicking on a unit and zoom out by clicking on the same unit or any point on the map outside of units.
Click on the button in the top menu to see the IPython notebook with the code to retrieve and process the data.

Click on the button to download the currently displayed map as a PNG image.
If you see in the top menu you can choose a color scheme from the drop down displayed on click.
